Firm attorneys lead seminar explaining health care reform law to employers

PROVIDENCE (Aug. 2,  2010) – Barton Gilman attorneys conducted a leading-edge seminar on July 20 to help employers get ready for the game-changing federal health care reform law.

This all-day symposium – entitled “Health Care Reform: What Employers Need to Know” – covered the major aspects of the Patriot Protection and Affordable Care Act and Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.

Changes to how employers offer and administer health plans will occur as early as November this year. The health care reform seminar  helped employers know their obligations under the massive new law, and understand how the legislation interacts with state laws, including Rhode Island. The program also offered tips to employers on assessing best-practice programs and making the decisions necessary to develop plans that work with the new requirements.

“We provided information employers need to move forward in addressing the issues associated with health care, and to give them some insight into the health care movement,” said Angela L. Carr, who moderated the program.

Barton Gilman attorneys  Timothy Groves and Elizabeth Merritt were also panelists at the seminar.
